Itinerary
Your ENA representative greets you at Cairo Airport and escorts you to your hotel. The rest of the evening is yours to rest or stroll the city’s lively streets.
At the Giza Plateau, the Great Pyramid of Khufu stands as the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World, flanked by the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure. Each structure anchors a royal complex that once supported priests, boat pits, and causeways, revealing how precisely the Old Kingdom engineered eternity in stone. The scene opens out to desert and sky, yet every angle reminds you that this was once a working city of builders, priests, and kings.
Just below, the Great Sphinx—lion’s body, human face—is widely linked to King Khafre and carved from a single limestone outcrop. Its enigmatic expression has watched over Giza for more than four millennia, guarding the way to the Valley Temple. Inside that temple, Old Kingdom craftsmen set polished granite against limestone to create a cool, geometric space where mummification rites prepared the king for the afterlife.
You pause midday for a relaxed meal at a quality local restaurant, then continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum. It gathers one of the world’s richest collections from predynastic times through the Greco-Roman era. You’ll see royal statues, everyday objects, and the celebrated treasures of Tutankhamun—artifacts that turn names from history into people with lives, crafts, and beliefs. In the evening, transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor and settle into your hotel for the night.
Karnak Temple feels like a city of stone: 247 acres of sanctuaries, pylons, obelisks, and the famed Hypostyle Hall, whose 134 papyrus-shaped columns soar above you. Built and expanded over some 1,500 years, Karnak honored the Theban Triad—Amun, Mut, and Khonsu—and preserves inscriptions that read like a ledger of pharaonic ambition. Walking the Avenue of Sphinxes, you sense how processions once linked temple to temple during major festivals.
After a restful afternoon and a casual lunch, you visit Luxor Temple as the lights come up and the reliefs sharpen in warm glow. Founded by Amenhotep III and extended by Ramses II around 1400 BCE, the temple celebrated the annual Opet Festival—an event that symbolically renewed kingship. Colossal statues, processional courts, and an intact sequence of rooms make Luxor Temple an elegant counterpoint to Karnak’s vastness.
The Valley of the Kings hides 63 rock-cut tombs from the New Kingdom (c. 1570–1070 BCE), including those of Ramses II, Seti I, and Tutankhamun. Inside, painted corridors carry you through underworld books and protective spells, their colors still vivid where ancient pigments met dry desert air. It’s a rare chance to walk the same passages artisans finished more than three thousand years ago.
Nearby, the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut—Djeser-Djeseru, “Holy of Holies”—nestles into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Built around 1479 BCE for Egypt’s renowned queen, its colonnades, ramps, and chapels blend symmetry with landscape in a design that influenced classical architecture. Reliefs here record expeditions to Punt and offerings to Amun, giving Hatshepsut a clear voice across the centuries.
On the return, you stop at the Colossi of Memnon: two 18-meter statues of Amenhotep III, each carved from quartzite blocks that once traveled hundreds of kilometers. An earthquake in 27 BCE cracked one statue, creating the ancient “Vocal Memnon” phenomenon at dawn; Roman-era inscriptions still record the sound. After a relaxed lunch at a Nile-view venue, you drive east across the desert to Hurghada and check into your Red Sea resort.
A full day to unwind by the Red Sea. Swim in clear water, stretch out on the sand, or add an optional activity—snorkeling, a boat trip, or a gentle desert outing. The slower rhythm is part of the itinerary by design, so the week feels balanced and restorative.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Hurghada Airport for your flight to Cairo. Your evening in the capital is unprogrammed—perfect for a stroll, a café stop, or simply a quiet night before departure.
Enjoy breakfast, then transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight home. Your week now reads like a map of Egypt: pyramids and sphinx, temples and tombs, sun and sea.

By Oliver & Sara N. May 10, 2025 Exceeded our expectationsWe chose this itinerary because it promised both the monuments and the sea, but it gave us much more. Day 1 was Cairo—our guide told stories that made the stones feel alive. The overnight train to Luxor was surprisingly comfortable, and waking up to palm trees along the Nile was magical. The cruise crew greeted us with tea and laughter. We loved wandering through Karnak’s giant columns and hearing local musicians play on the deck that night. Hurghada at the end felt like a reward. Snorkelling with colourful fish after days of temples was unforgettable.Date of Experience: April 24, 2025
